Shipmate and Simrad
In 1979, Rauff & Sørensen A/S launched the brand Shipmate Marine Electronics – at a time when the products on the market were strictly functional in construction, with angular steel cases, buttons and lights and no focus on design.

The company developed, manufactured and sold adiotelephones and navigation equipment on the international marine market, and they wanted a profile that would increase their visibility and set them apart from the competition. At an early stage, they decided to work with Ole Søndergaard – a collaboration that was to last for many years, and which came to include both corporate design and product design.
